What is the YachtEye server? Do I need it?
YachtEye requires a device on-board to keep all your yachts’ data private on your yachts’ network, to read and parse the yachts’ navigational data and to run the YachtEye TV client application.
What are the specifications and technical details of YachtEye?
A detailed technical guide of YachtEye is included in your purchase, as well as technical support should you have any questions.
Can I upload the PDF of the yachts’ menus?
Yes. To add a menu to the Menu App, choose “+ Menu” in the YachtEye mobile app, choose a name and upload the menu PDF.
Do we have to write the destination content ourselves?
No. YachtEye comes with an extensive destination database, including pictures and descriptions for each destination. You can overwrite our content if desired, and if you spot a mistake or a missing destination - please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will add or amend the (missing) destination right away. Does YachtEye work on Apple TV?
YachtEye for Apple TV is currently in development and set to launch in 2025. YachtEye is already available as an application for iPhone and iPad, as well as on the onboard TV's via the video distribution system.
How do I install YachtEye?
YachtEye is largely plug-and-play, with the main prerequisite requirement is that the yachts’ NMEA0183 data feed is available, either via a LAN network connection or a serial (RS422) connection. At purchase, your engineers or system integrators will receive a detailed technical guide with the installation instructions, and our team is ready to support the installation remotely. On-location installation support is available for an additional fee.
When can I start using YachtEye?
You can instantly download the YachtEye app from the iOS App Store to start creating itineraries and discovering inspiration for your next destination. Once the server is installed onboard, YachtEye will be fully operational for both guests and crew.
Does YachtEye require an internet connection?
Yes.YachtEye requires an internet connection to work. Whilst all your data is stored locally, YachtEye downloads map tiles, weather forecasts, yacht data and so on from the internet.
Do you offer crew training and/or guest training?
The crew and/or guest training is included with your YachtEye purchase. After commissioning of the YachtEye system, we will get in touch with you to find a suitable date and time.
How secure is YachtEye? Is my privacy ensured?
YachtEye has been designed, from the ground up, with your security and privacy in mind. Any connections to- and from your yacht are encrypted, and restricted to a private virtual cloud. Your data is stored exclusively on-board, and access is strictly controlled using a ‘zero trust’ security model. The YachtEye team operates under strict ‘eyes only’ and ‘need to know’ policies. Is it safe to give my guests access to the YachtEye mobile application?
Yes, it is completely safe to give your guests access to the YachtEye mobile application. Designed with a ‘zero trust’ security model, YachtEye ensures that guests only have access to the information specifically designated for them by the crew. Additionally, all guest data remains their private property, even after they leave your yacht. This makes YachtEye an excellent solution for charter guests as well, as you can easily set up guest accounts to automatically expire after a specified date, ensuring seamless and secure access during their stay.
Is there an annual subscription fee?
YachtEye requires an LMSS (Licence, Monitoring, Service & Support) subscription to continue using the system after the first 12 months, receiving updates and support – as well as regular updates to the Destination databases. This subscription covers (technical) support, training, updates, content licences (such as maps and weather) and regular updates of our curated Destination Database.
What is the warranty coverage for YachtEye?
There is a one-year hardware warranty on YachtEye servers, starting on the date we ship the server. Water ingress or thermal problems, as a result of bad installation are not covered, but with any other issues we replace the hardware.
What is the process for repairs or replacements under warranty?
