SuperYacht Times is pleased to announce that it has acquired EsSense AI to enhance our superyacht infotainment system YachtEye. In addition EsSense AI’s founder Fabian Tollenaar has joined our team as Technology Director and will head up our 10-person strong development team.
EsSense AI is a smart operating system for yachts, designed to intelligently integrate data and systems across the yacht using local AI. The system processes available data locally on the yacht, to ensure security and privacy for end-users.
“It’s very advanced in what kind of data it can handle”, says Fabian Tollenaar. “For instance, besides the usual navigation and engine data, it can deal with visual (camera) feeds for computer vision and advanced 3D operations.”
Fabian continues, “Integrating EsSense AI in YachtEye enables us to build advanced, exciting features for YachtEye. For example, we can contextualise the information shown on a YachtEye display based on real-time data, which means that that information will be much more relevant to the guests at any given time and place.”
The integration of EsSense AI in YachtEye will also reduce the amount of work for the crew, because the system selects and displays the right data at the right time rather than the crew having to set it up. Furthermore we can offer additional experiences such as mobile apps and Crestron integration.
Merijn de Waard, founder and director of SuperYacht Times, comments, “I am very pleased with this important strategic acquisition. EsSense AI will be an important part of the completely new AI-driven YachtEye that we will unveil in 2022. I am also very happy that Fabian has joined our team. With his deep knowledge of software and hardware he is the right person to take our products to the next level.
